Merritt Construction Services is currently working as a sub-consultant to the PB-URS construction management team. We are working directly with the Port Authority’s program management, construction management, and design teams, developing program and construction schedules, performing constructability analyses, and creating a site-wide logistical program and plans.

This $35 million design/build project consisted of the design and construction of a new Maintenance of Way Administrative and Storage Facility on timber piles, a new Communications Building, an addition to the existing Material Distribution Center, and a new Gate House security building at the entrance to the MNR Harmon Shop site. A principal of Merritt Construction Services, David Puza, was the vice president and senior project manager for the project, working directly for Railroad Construction Company, Inc.

A principal of Merritt Construction Services, David Puza, was the joint venture vice president for the project. His previous years of experience in working with New York City Transit on multi-million dollar projects ranging from $10 to over $200 million provided the team and surety with the construction management expertise to complete this project. A major portion of the administrative duties required the preparation of cost estimates, schedules and subcontractor budgets for the surety and the resolution of construction claims.

A principal of Merritt Construction Services, David Puza, assumed the vice president and project manager position in June 2005, working directly for Railroad Construction Company, Inc. (RCC). Since the project’s completion in December 2007, Merritt Construction Services has continued to provide its scheduling, estimating, budget comparisons, white paper discussions on constructability, blasting analysis change order preparation and project close-out assistance expertise to RCC.
